Theatre AB

Overview

Theatre majors, driven by a love for stage and screen, gain hands-on experience making plays, film, and animation projects – while studying these art forms in-depth – in front of an audience or camera, behind the scenes, in the director’s chair, on the design team, and in the critic’s corner. Many students seek more advanced training and study in their main areas of interest, while others may aim for a bigger picture or wide variety of experience that could include a second major, a minor, or a certificate program. Their creative collaborations and academic achievements lay the foundation for building crucial professional relationships and developing essential problem-solving skills for success in their careers.

With a solid grounding in all aspects of theatre and a well-rounded liberal arts education, students have the option of pursuing an area of emphasis in one or more of the following: acting, design, directing/stage management, dramatic media/animation, dramatic writing, and theatre history/theory. Some may pursue the Double Dawg pathway as well.

Double Dawgs

This major is part of a Double Dawgs pathway: Theatre AB/Nonprofit Management and Leadership MA (non-thesis). For more information, go to doubledawgs.uga.edu
