Romance Languages AB

Overview

Students majoring in Romance Languages are immersed in the rich and challenging study of language and culture. Courses in linguistics, literature, and specialized topics lead to advanced levels of speaking and writing proficiency, the development of intercultural social skills, and an understanding of the vast Romance Language-speaking world. Students may choose to pursue proficiency in a combination of any two Romance languages or focus on either Italian or Portuguese through a single language option. Undergraduates, especially those combining language study with preparation for careers with international components in areas such as arts and design, business, health professions, journalism, law, and public service, will find ways to enhance their desired competencies through our sponsored study abroad programs, residential language communities, service and experiential learning opportunities, conversation tables, and cultural events throughout the year.
